Week 12 - Start Fires in People’s Hearts
Start Fires in People's Hearts
Our purpose on earth is to know God, worship Him, make Him known, and enjoy Him forever.
One of our earthly purposes is to make Him known by starting fires in people’s hearts by sharing God’s love and truth with others.
Spiritual growth is like building a fire:
The tinder = First interaction with the truth of the gospel.
The kindling = Continued interaction with Christ in Scripture.
The logs = Deepening faith through Scripture, prayer, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Evangelism isn’t about debates or perfection, but loving people; We must point them to Christ and trust God to give the growth. The Holy Spirit gives us boldness and guides us to speak truth with love. By showing love, sharing hope, living boldly, and relying on God, we participate in the Greatest Story — the story that God is writing.
So, it all boils down to two things: go out there and start fires!
Read these Bible passages:
Romans 12:9-21
2 Timothy 1:6-10
1 Thessalonians 5:19
Matthew 3:11 (John the Baptist about Jesus)
Galatians 2:20
1 John 4:7-11
Questions:
What is our purpose on earth?
Why should we start fires?
Why should we start with the tinder and not the logs?
Where does our fire come from, and where should it go?
Who can you share the Good News with this week?
