Week 2 - What is Truth?

What is truth?

What is truth?
Is truth real?
And if truth is real, how do we find it?
If we find it, what should we do with it?
What impact does it have and should it have on our lives?
Some say right and wrong comes from society, while others claim truth is purely subjective to the person.  Meanwhile, Christians say that truth comes from God and is objective, being revealed through scripture. The question is, which is it?
Seeking truth requires careful thought, humility, persistence, and a willingness to truly look at others’ points of view and consider their points.  When we peer into what the culture thinks, opinions and a person’s self are the real guides into finding what is true and right.  However, as we have seen and experienced time and time again, our own thoughts and feelings almost always mislead us.  Scripture teaches us that all truth comes from God, who reveals it in His Word (Psalm 119:160, Proverbs 30:5). Once discovered, truth calls for action.  Living faithfully requires sacrifice, but in the end, it will always bring true freedom, peace, and purpose; living in obedience results in a deep fellowship with God, one that can’t be experienced on our own.
As believers, we are called to pursue and follow truth, then go and share it with others. After all, sharing the Greatest Truth with others is what the Great Commission is all about! (Matthew 28:19).
