Week 6 - How to Share the Gospel

How to Share the Gospel

Making God known requires first knowing Him, so understanding who He is and what Scripture says about Him helps us to share clearly and faithfully.
The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20) calls believers to make disciples, teach God’s commands, and proclaim the hope of salvation and eternal life.

One effective way to begin evangelistic conversations is by asking thoughtful questions such as:
“What do you think happens after you die?” “What is the purpose of life?” or “What do you think is wrong with the world?”

As conversations develop, these 5 follow-up questions can help guide people toward a deeper reflection of what they believe and to look deeper for truth:

  • “What do you mean by...?”

  • “How do you know what you’re saying is true?”

  • “What difference does it make?”

  • “What if you’re wrong (and you die)?”

  • “What would you accept as evidence?”

You don't have to be a scholar in order to talk to others about what they believe and guide them towards the truth.  You don't have to have all the answers. What is false will reveal itself under scrutiny.  Just ask questions with a genuine heart.

Prayer, reliance on the Holy Spirit, humility, and love are essential, because God ultimately causes spiritual growth in them. Even when results are not immediate, faithfully planting seeds honors God and can lead to transformation over time.

Questions:

What role does the church have in the salvation of the lost?

Why should we share the gospel?

How should we share the gospel?

When and where should we share the gospel?

Who should we share the gospel with?

Why is it important to have an inquisitive heart rather than a demanding argument with someone who desperately needs to see God’s truth and grace?
