Week 7 - Why Should We Talk About Sin
Why Should We Talk About Sin?
When sharing the gospel, talking about sin is crucial. Not to shame them, but rather to show their deeper need for God.
Sin comes from misplaced desires, seeking fulfillment and validation from the world. As we know, however, we will never find the answer to this desire in the world. People look to relationships, achievements, or possessions for worth, but these cannot truly satisfy. Only our perfect and loving God can validate us, show us that we are loved, and make us whole.
Ultimately, evangelism is about loving people enough to point them to this truth; the only way to understand a person’s need for God is to first acknowledge their shortcomings and the emptiness that worldly validation brings. Unlike other religions, Christianity teaches that we are inherently sinful and in need of Christ. Sharing this with truth and grace is an act of love, guiding others to God’s perfect validation.
